Singing Chinese Song

Jul-2010 : I just realized that Vernon pick up Chinese Song though he not really know every single words of the song. But when u see the Karaoke, he really follow the timing and words by words sing.

Vernon's Concert

**Sleepy look before the concert.

22-Nov-2009 Sunday - This afternoon Vernon is going to perform at the Komtar Performing Hall @ 3pm. In preparation of the concern, we have to let Vernon took a early nap so that he won't feel tire. However, he not used to taking his nap too early as 1pm. No choice we let him be and at 3pm we get him change and drop Gerald at Nai Nai house.

Vernon's dance performance is the 2nd on the agenda, upon arrival at the komtar Performance Hall we received a door gift from the Teacher. We then seated per the ticket number given.

The concert start with the principal "Linda" introduction follow by the graduation of the K2 class students received their cert and dance. After that will be Vernon's class "紅紅的太陽".

Their teacher bring them to the stage, when the song starting play. some of them start nervous when seeing so many people including Vernon. some even cry out loud on the stage and the teacher have to take care of them. But Vernon & the 2 girls pick up the song/dance very quickly. At the end of the concert, they also have a finale where all of the performer go to the stage and sing together. It is a good experience for the kids to get used to the stage perform. though Vernon did told us that he is afraid when he home. I told him, u can dance very well and nothing to worry Okay. Next year, try again and do it better. :)

Vernon's latest Drawing

Vernon's drawing is getting better & better, every time you see him draw. He will show you what is in his drawing, just like the one above. He is telling us that he draw lots of houses where there's a Sun but out of sudden the sky become dark and raining. and got a strong wind too.
doesn't he is good in drawing? he even able to color within the line and very nice now. Sometime he can;t get the color like "gray", he then will tell us to buy him a color pencil got gray color one.

My Mickey Mouse

6-Sept-2009 Sunday - This morning Vernon keep asking me & James look at what he had draw. when we go to him, he show us his mickey mouse. Isn't it very cute though is not like the actual mickey mouse but he can draw real good already at his age.

He always ask me to send him to Art class whenever he saw the girl girl and boy boy drawing in the TV. and I have to tell him..............most of the Art class only accept 4 years old boy. so the early he can go to art class is next year. I knew he got this artistic, and I already plan to send him. same for music class as well.

Vernon's Handwriting & Coloring

Vernon's Coloring got improvement since he went to nursery.
Before I started my maternity leave I did print out some to prepare for him to color at home.
I want to thanks to Chin Ern's Mother whom provide me all this idea.



These are Vernon's handwriting at home. After came back from nursery daily, except from watching cartoon. He will ask us to gave him some paper and then he will write ABC/123. Other than all this activity he did at home, he also love to read books and watch the word world.
So on & off he will ask us how to spell certain words.
Now, He already able to spell 3 simple letter words like DOG, CAT,Water, Yo-Yo, Drum, Rocket............


The other day I went to Parkson and saw this Japan water pen with the writing mat.....pretty good for the kids to write, draw and it can dry with using any eraser. So that I can save some paper..........but Vernon still not use to as he can't wait till it dry.

3rd prize on family photo contest

15-Jul-2009 - Today afternoon while I am having my rest while looking after Gerald boy in the living room. Suddenly someone ring our house bell, when I open the door.....I saw a courier man sending me a box of goodies. Guess what !! This is the 3rd prize that we got for our family photo contest on the " 媽媽 寶寶" <> on June issue. The goodies worth RM100.

In fact, this come very surprise when we hear the news from Photo me back last month. The photographer call us and told us that your family photo that he submitted on behalf got 3rd prize. He told us to get the magazine from him and claim the prize upon getting the notifications from Pureen company.

Inside the box (prize) : a pack of disposable diaper from Pureen, 2 toothpaste for kids, 2 showing gel, 1 lotion, a pack of wet tissues and 2 Pureen powder.

21-Nov-2008 Friday - Vernon is capable to tell who see which Doctor especially James, I & himself.

We love to ask him :
Mommy : Papa see which Doctor?
Vernon : Papa see Dr. Wong

Mommy : Mommy see which Doctor?
Vernon : Mommy see Dr. Gan

Mommy : Vernon see which Doctor?
Vernon : Vernon see Dr. Sim.

Evertime when I went for checkup, He will told his nai nai.....mommy go to see Dr. Gan.

客人來 Song

14-Oct-2008 - Beginning of this month, James & I start planning to teach and play Chinese song to Vernon. We want to prepared him for multi language capability, especially now people are looking at east. We as a Chinese must at least know Chinese as our mother language, this is what I think of.

Well, we bought some Chinese children song books which come together with CD. and I think it works very well for Vernon. After a few play of those songs, he began to pick up a few song. He picked up 客人來 , 三輪車, 大公雞 & 小毛驢 etc.

Fully potty accomplishment

1-Oct-2008 Wednesday - Vernon's Kakak wati went back to Indonesia to celebrate Raya with her family for 2 weeks and will only be back after 8-Oct. I remembered the 1st day I send Vernon to Nai nai house, as Nai nai now become the full time Vernon's babysitter. The 1st few days Nai Nai is totally not use to the time table of Vernon and she was upside down and busy for whole day just to bath, preparing meals & let Vernon sleep. MIL told me that she had hard time the whole day until she have to had her breakfast @ 11am daily after wati left home.
nai nai was counting down when kakak wati is coming back..........haa...aa : )
the luckiest thing is Vernon is now fully potty train. At least nai nai don't need to worry of big & small business.

Since Kakak Wati left home for Raya, Vernon never wee wee on the bed......this is what I & James observed. 2 weeks right b4 wati went home, it was a raining day. so sometime at night Vernon drink too much water he will wee wee on the bed and Kakak wati is the one that have to do more cleaning work especially the bed sheet & the mattress protector.
From the day kakak wati left home Vernon started able to wait till morning only go to wee wee. But we were so worry that is there any impact to his bladder.
So I & James think of a better way to ease us & help Vernon, we prepare a cup for him beside the bed. We told him, if he want wee wee.......he just told either one of us during night time. He only need to wee wee into the cup, no need to go to toilet.
But so far, Vernon only use it for not more than 3 times.
Because most of the time, Vernon will say..............

Vernon : No Mommy......i want to sleep. no kacau (disturb in Malay).

Fully Self Potty

9-Aug-2008 Saturday - Starting this week 32, Vernon able to take off his pants and go to toilet by his own. according to Kakak Wati, he actually started this about a week already especially in Nai Nai house.
Nowadays,he always stand outside the shower box & wee wee or he will pull the small stools that we put next to the sink to stand up to reach the toilet bowl.

**Remembered on this Tuesday night 5-Aug, b4 bed Vernon told me that he want "put-put". So I accompanied him out from our bed- room. and he kept pushing me away and told me :

Vernon : Mommy go watching TV together with Papa.
Mommy : Are u sure u able to potty by your own?
Vernon : Mommy ......"no"..................Vernon go potty.

As a result, James & I hiding behind the cupboard next to the toilet & watching what he did?
Vernon went to pull out his potty chair and sit down by his own. as usual, he love to singing while potty. after finished, he called me in to wash his backside.

His is .........independence on potty and pretty much on learning things as well.
He make me feel like his is mommy's big boy now. and no longer a baby.............
however, in my heart......he is still a baby to me......haa.aaaaa

Look & Find

We have started training Vernon's right & left brain by letting him look & find the pictures & matching.

What we use to train? We bought some books like : - "Backyardigans first look & find" & "Barney Search & spot" where there's a few items show in the side bar and u have to find the items from the pictures. First time Vernon look at the items & when we asked him to search the items & match from the picture. He reack a bit slow, but gradually on the following day he can quickly spot & find the items. He even can easily point for u.

Now he is the expert and want to ask us back :

Vernon : Mommy, Where is the triangle? where is the...the blue letter?

The other day when we pass by a book store in the downtown, I saw the flash card game call "donkey"

it reminded me my younger days where we used to play in school. and this is a good game for see & match flash card game. as the picture in the game come in pair. So I use it to test Vernon, he easily find the items/picture I ask.

so maybe later I am thinking of buying him the "happy Family"game. where we have to match the family member of the profession.

Pao Yu

9-May-2008 - Friday night as usual we went to MIL house for dinner and fetch Vernon boy. Before we want to leave MIL house Vernon normally will pray and gave nainai a good night hug. No exceptions for that night but Nai nai asked me & James to watch what Vernon will do during praying. Vernon knell in front of the god and he suddenly say some words :
佛保佑Vernon chua 平安 and 快高长大.

I & James almost can't believe that he can pray 佛 with those words.
I asked nai nai how can he remembered all these words, she told us that Vernon boy everyday stand besides her while she is praying and nai nai thought him the words every day. I think this has been a few weeks ago and it really works.
teaching kids especially language is not a day or 2 can be done. we need to be patience and spend time together. this is what I learnt from the parenting class that conducted by Dr. Sim.

Disposable diapers (good Progress)

9-May-2008 friday - no disposable diapers during nightime still in progress as there's 2 times where he drink too much waters and wee wee on the bed. so still have to keep monitoring and encouraging him to go toiletb4 bed & during the middle of the night. this is the hardest part I can say............becoz sometime I myself too tire to ask him during the middle of the night.

19-Apr-2008 - Saturday morning on our way to Mcdonald's, when papa's car stop at traffic light junction. Vernon boy sing his favorite song - rain rain go away.
He suddenly sang the song : -

Baby vernon want to play

Baby Vernon want to play

We all thought that we heard the wrong words. then he repeat again again to us.
all of us laugh :)

Good Bye Diapers - Almost

17-Apr-2008 - Thursday, I felt very happy as Vernon boy almost ready to get ride of disposable diapers at night. it's been 3 nights continuously he had dry diapers and ask me to open his diapers in the early morning to go wee wee in toilet.
I asked around friends & family and most of them told me that this is the sign of your baby is ready to get ride of disposable diapers.
Yeah..... I really glad that finally his is close to 100% get ride of disposable diapers. since he started potty train success ed and we only gave him disposable diapers during night time and some long hours shopping trip or out tings.

Full Names

8-Apr-2008 - wk15 of Apr Vernon boy not only able to spell his own names but able to say our parents names. Actually we have a mix feeling b4 started taught him our parents name as we also do not want him to mis-use. however, we still taught him as we thought back what if the teacher ask him in school, at least he still able to tell them when he go to school, right?

:- honestly he did misuse his papa's name when he call his papa to get him something, if 2nd time did not response, he will call : PapaJames !!!!.............till his father response him.

Vernon : Nainai YinYin

Mommy : What is Papa's 名字?
Vernon : PapaJames

Mommy : what is Mommy's 名字?

两只老鼠

14-Mar-2008 On our way home after dinner at MIL. I sang Vernon a brand new chinese song which suppose be 两只老虎 but I sing as 两只老鼠.....nevermind-lah.
Vernon boy was very interested with the new lyrics as he never hear mommy sing chinese song to him since he born. He love the lyrics very much, and keep asking me repeat the song once, twice and so on.........so that he can observed our movement of mouth and learning how to sing the song.
This is what Vernon said :

Vernon : 老鼠
Mommy : I knew he want the 老鼠 song.

today 15-Mar-2008, during our way to ah mah house. He able to sing together with me the 两只老鼠 song. I pretty happy as he can pick up chinese word as fast as english wording as well.

Spell Out Name

13-Mar-2008 thruseday - Nai nai have dinner so I have to pick up Vernon from MIL place after work. When I reached there, nai nai told me she wanted to ask Vernon to show me something.
Hmmh......something new he learnt???
Correct.............Nai nai ask Vernon to spell out his name Vernon.

Vernon : V-E-R-N-O-N....................Vernon.

Wow.............this is really something amaze me as I didn't know that he is capable of spell out his name. This is the first words that he able to spell without look at the words.
When we went home, I told James about it. James reaction is......................he don't believe it.
prove it to him after dinner.
alright................after dinner when Vernon is reading his book in my room. I asked Mr.James to come to the room. Then I asked Vernon boy to spell his name.
He spell out without mistake, James so happy and also amaze with his son achievement.

Saturday, When we went to Ah mah house. again Vernon boy go and show off to everyone in my family that he is able to spell his name

Rain Rain Go Away

8-Mar-2008 - friday night on our way to tesco after having dinner at Nai Nai place.
It was rain heavily seeing thru the car window, I suddenly think of sang Vernon boy the song - "Rain rain go away"
Vernon want me to sing him this song (repeated twice). He just sit on your car seat quietly listening and tried to follow me to sing the song.

" Rain, rain, go away"

On Saturday evening, after we had dinner at ah mah house and watch the result of voting. On our way home, the rain was so heavy. Then Vernon suddenly sing the song - Rain rain go away, baby Vernon want to play (off course the wording still not very clear) so we tried to help him and find tune of the words.
