"Botak" Boy hair cut day

27 Mar-2010 - Today I brought my boys to barber shop, Gerald started scratching his hair when his hair getting longer. I am sure Vernon want to follow, though he always tell me that he want to keep his hair.

Conversation earlier :

Vernon : No short short hair...mommy. ya.

Mommy : ok

When we at the barber shop

Barber : Boy, what number you want? the number represent how short the hair you want to be.

Vernon : he quickly tell the barber that he want #1.

Mommy : I reconfirm with him, are you sure?

Vernon : Yes.

Happy little botak boy..........he looks more "round" isn;t it with short hair.

I wonder when Penang Toy'R Us will have a kids Barber shop in there where the kids can play while having hair cut. I saw it in S'pore during my visit on 2008 x'mas.

Nickelodeon Road Show in Gurney (Dora)

Vernon just got his favorite Dora coloring paper, is about to sit down & start coloring.

14-Nov-2009 - Saturday : James watch the advertisement in "Nick" Channel saying they are going to have a DORA & KaiLan Road Show in Gurney Mall Penang.

We knew these 2 characters are Vernon's favorite cartoon, he used to watch the show every weekend or weekday.

Saturday Early mroning I rush to market to get some next week food, then back home & helping Kakak to get the 2 kids ready. As we plan to depart around 10:30am.

Papa drop me & Vernon in the main gate, while they go to park the car. I brought Vernon to go to the main stage, seeing no related road show. So I guess it must be in the new wing, I quickly walk over there. Oh, luckily it haven't started. They were just setting up, and let the kids do the coloring and helping tatooing the kids hand with Spongebob sticker.

Games for the kids, Vernon want to try on this. I felt proud as he is very brave of going into the box and try to catch as many ticket as he could. NO CRY at all. as most of the kids go in & cry and the rewards for the kids are the sticker from Nickelodoen.

Lunch time, so we went to Swensen and Vernon want to eat burger so we ordered him a Kids meal which come with Corn (his favorite), 2 mini burgers & some Alphabet nuggets. pretty cool !!
Well, for mommy off course FISH........as mommy need to breastfeed Baby De-de. Fish is the best food for mommy.

And Chicket for Papa.......................After taken lunch and we went back to the Nickelodoen for the 1pm meet the DORA session. The crowed were gathered and they have games & learning session for the kids and give a warm welcome to DORA. We went there too late and did not get any ticket for the 1 to 1 photos session. Vernon very upset with that and we are about to leave the place. waiting for Papa to pay the ticket. So I tried to talk to the sponsor head who is taking care of the people going up to the stage for photo with DORA. Then she agreed to give a few kids for a chance. So I finally grab that chance for Vernon, he finally turn his face to a smiling and happy boy.

Vernon finally get to meet DORA on Stage and take personal picture with her. Free Photos from the Nickelodoen. Thank You and I wish to have more this Nickelodoen Cartoon (Characters) come to Penang & meet up with the kids.

My Baby Gerald watching TV

Vernon is watching his favortiteCartoon - Dora the explorer in the living room and the de-de also want to watch after listen to the sound of the cartoon. this is what I mean he will trun his head position & watch.

I am sure he (gerald boy) is another Dora (cartoon) supporter.

16-Nov-2009 - since ever Baby Gerald knew how to roll over, we observe that he love to watch TV whatever TV show his Koko is watching.
Every weekend morning right after they took their morning bath, Vernon will usually have his breakfast while watching cartoon--Dora or Tek. and we usually put Gerald beside him while I am preparing lunch. It happened that we see this little baby turn his head to watch the TV again though we tried to change the position of his rocking chair.
As I have to protect his little eye from damage. I never had experience seeing baby watching TV, Vernon never did so during his baby time. May be I did not put him next to the TV or so.

1-Nov-2009 Saturday - Times fly pretty fast, my Gerald boy is 5 months + now.

I first put him on my Boppy pillow to see his head is firm enough or not. and he able to do so when he is 4 month & 1 weeks old. He started to roll over @ 4 month+, then every time I feed him at night and want to put him back to his baby cort. I have to make sure he is not awake else he will roll over, my worried is he will close his face down especially when he first know how to roll over. Now he is getting expert to control himself and move in the circle after roll over.

Vernon's Astronault

9-Oct-2009 - Friday This morning I drove Vernon to School as I am on FTO

He saw many uncles wearing their motorcycle Helmet with the mask cover their face. He told me :

Vernon : Mommy u see, so many astronauts.

Mommy: Where got?

Vernon : see......they are outside our car.

Mommy : I only aware that he though they are astronaut just becoz they wearing the helmet looks like astronaut.

A few weeks back during my confinement, 2-E po called up to ask us to go to her house to pick up a drawing that Vernon did during early June when Nai Nai brought him there. 2-E po told us you all must take a look at how well this boy able draw his tiger.
He able to draw 4 legs with some hairy on the body of the animal. I really proud and happy that he able to draw so well. and we decided to keep this copy...........................................

Meeting DORAEMON in Queensbay Mall

19-Dec-2008 Saturday - Last weekend we went to Queensbay Mall to see the Doraemon and friends. We follow people Queuing up to wait for photo session, unfortunately there's a rules where you need to purchase any Doraemon items, then only you will be entitle to take a photo with the Doraemon and friends. However, they only release 15 tickets everyday for photos session due to time limit and the ticket was finish very early of the day.

Vernon looks very sad when we told him we can't take photo with Doraemon last weekend. But I promised him that I will go to get the ticket early this week so that we can take photo with Doraemon. Vernon smile immediately and happy follow us left the place.

This week, I purposely make a trip to Queensbay Mall at 12pm noon to make sure I get the ticket today & keep my promised to Vernon happen.

I was very happy when I got my ticket as I already knew that we can make it this time.

In the evening, we left our place about 6pm so that we can reach Queensbay Mall at 6:30pm sharp. We happily queuing up and the checker check thru each and every family's ticket that going to participate in the photo session. Vernon just can't wait to meet the Doraemon and friends. When he reached the stage, he keep turning his head looking at the giant Doraemon.

After finished the photos session, we went to have our dinner @ Old Town while waiting for the free photo ready to pick up at the Kodak Shop.

18-Dec-2008 Friday - Friday night we had dinner at Nai Nai house and back home about 9pm.

Normally after reached home, Vernon will play or read his book for while b4 went to bed.

Tonight while I & James were watching the Discovery channel which Vernon not interested with. Vernon asked me to take his Color & shapes for him, he play it in the living room.

Suddenly........He Call.

Let's Learn Together

We bought this sesame street "Let's Learn Together" at Kinokuniya Book store in KL CC during our trip to KL sometime ago.
This book comes with a remote control for kids to play while learning. The key learning things in this book is teaching kids on "colors, Shapes & math". It also comes with some song & video of actual life animals to introduce to the kids. I found it very worth, especially Vernon is the Elmo's fan, furthermore he also interested with the features inside.

Vernon's Piggy bank

31-Oct-2008 Friday - Vernon start to pick up the value of money and concept of savings lately.
Whenever he saw we left our coins on the table, he will collect the coins and pull my hand to follow him to the room and pointed to where his piggy bank is and he want to keep or "tong-tong" into his piggy bank.
In fact, the coins is too dirty for kids to hold. As a result, we always have to make sure that we wash his hand after he kept all his coins into the piggy bank.
just like last week when we reached nai nai house late evening to pick him up. The 1st thing Vernon look for will be my handbag. He will open my purse to see any coins left for him to "tong-tong" into his piggy bank. He will very happy if i have some coins left in my purse. He will collect it and put on the floor and start counting coin by coin. So that he can "tong-tong" again. But then kuku grace tried to tease Vernon boy, and gave him RM1. His response to kuku is no RM1, Vernon don't want RM1. He then asked grace to keep the RM1.

This is so call Kids mind..................we all laugh at him. :)

Instruments Set

1-Aug-2008 - I & James took a day off yesterday to celebrate my birthday, dining out, having movie with popcorn and while we went for shopping at the Gurney plaza Toys R' Us. We saw an instrument set which Vernon will for sure love it. He now already recognized most of the instruments name, so we would think that he should own a set of those instruments.

Among the instruments : Drum, Drum stick, Trumpet, shakers, Tambourine, Cymbols & castanets. He love the Drum & drum stick the most, and he found very challenge to blow the trumpet. So everytime he will come to me and ask me to blow while he press the trumpet's key.

Another instrument he love is the cymbols....................................

He was so happy with big Eye open last night while I took out the set & put infront of him after he finished his milk milk.

Little Pianist

28-June -2008 Friday night - After we came back from shopping, Vernon took papa's notebook and put in front of his mini piano. He play the music and pretend he is looking at the note in the book. I believed he must have watched someone play piano and he want to be like them.
I told James about letting Vernon to attend a music lesson next year. as MIL house neighbour is a piano teacher, not too sure want to send him there or want to send him to a music school.

Look & Find

We have started training Vernon's right & left brain by letting him look & find the pictures & matching.

What we use to train? We bought some books like : - "Backyardigans first look & find" & "Barney Search & spot" where there's a few items show in the side bar and u have to find the items from the pictures. First time Vernon look at the items & when we asked him to search the items & match from the picture. He reack a bit slow, but gradually on the following day he can quickly spot & find the items. He even can easily point for u.

Now he is the expert and want to ask us back :

Vernon : Mommy, Where is the triangle? where is the...the blue letter?

The other day when we pass by a book store in the downtown, I saw the flash card game call "donkey"

it reminded me my younger days where we used to play in school. and this is a good game for see & match flash card game. as the picture in the game come in pair. So I use it to test Vernon, he easily find the items/picture I ask.

so maybe later I am thinking of buying him the "happy Family"game. where we have to match the family member of the profession.

Creativity & innovations

One evening after came back from Ah mah house, Vernon boy went to my open kitchen cabinet and he took the tea box + his finger food biscuit. He took the items & stack one by one, then he pull my hand & James hand to watch what he has done. He told us this is Vernon tower.

Colors

Vernon boy now step into another Milestone of learning. He already knew well of A-Z, 1 to 10 and here he come........another achievement of able to regconize colors. He already pick up the color - Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Black, purple, pink & orange.

I think all the books & materials that we bought help a lot to ease him on learning and regconizing the colors. At first I & james were so worried that it might confuse him from reading the items together with the colors. Now looks like nothing is difficult for our little cuttie pie. he can differentiate it so pretty well and easily say the colors of the items or fruits, vege etc.

Papa James bought this color book from his china trip, believe it....our boy can tell u the colors and name of the items in this book!!!

Mommy bought me this little rainbow catterepillar, i can tell daddy & mommy the colors now@22 months old...........yeah....yeah.
