Time for Nursery

Feb 2009 - For the past 3 weeks we went for a few shortlisted nursery to understand the environment and the syllabus that they teach for 3 years old.

I pretty like all of the 3 nurseries that we visited :
Gentle Care
Learning Garden
Little light house

However we have to consider a few things before we send Vernon :
* Distance
* convenience
* fees
* what they cover in their syllabus/during the playschool
* how big is the class

Why we went to gentle care, as this place was highly recommended by a good friend of nai nai and we pretty love the environment & how they teach the kids. In fact we also see the example/result of the kids that with them since 2 years old. The kids were very obediant and follow the teacher instructions and very self independent especially after the bath, lunch and pick up their shoes and wore their shoes.
but when we consider the distance from Nai Nai house to there, we kind of drop this out since it will be very trouble/tire for Nai nai to drop/pick up Vernon from playschool within 3 hours.
for the learning garden, off course we also love the place/environment some more the place is just a block from Ah Mah house. especially the classroom where it has a storytelling corner, math corner. very convenient place for Nai Nai & Ah mah to pick him.
but the fees is way too high just for playschool, which we seem no make sense since we only want to have a playschool for Vernon to go & mix with friends and do some art & craft thing.
as we saw most of the playschool is teaching the alphabet "A-Z" and 1-20" which Vernon already well known.
as a result, we decided to visit the Little light house in Green Lane where close to Nai Nai house and is also the koko che che playschool.
We met the headmaster for almost 2 hours and we walked around the nursery and looking at all the result of the kids arts/craft.
we pretty like it and we will discuss with Nai Nai b4 make the final decision.
as the fees is reasonable and syllabus is making sense though it only concentrate on English till 5 years old.
we decided to send him earlier to playschool right b4 his De-de arrival by June. so that he don't felt that becoz of the arrival of De-de we send him to playshcool.

Mommy's talkative Boy

17-Feb-2009 Tuesday - Last weekend, after we went to Ah Mah house for dinner and so coincident my sister also going home with Joshua & Jolene. We went into our car at the same time as my Sister's. and They left earlier, so out of sudden Vernon can't see their car in front of us. Then He start to post a Q to us................

1st Scenario :
Vernon : Where is Ee & Joshua koko?
Mommy : They went home loh
Vernon : Mommy, Where is Ee's House......show me.....show me.
Mommy : Can't see from here. wait till next weekend mommy bring you there. Okay!!
Vernon : Okay.

2nd Scenario :
These few days, on our way home.

Vernon start say......this is not my house.....this is not my house till we reach our gate.
then he will say, this is my house.................................................

He did the same in the morning when I drop him in Nai Nai house............he will count/and say this is not nai nai house till we reach in front of Nai Nai house.

7-Feb-2009 Saturday - This is the famous place for visitors & local to visit during Chinese New Year as every year it will light up with lots of Lanterns. This year the "Kuan Yin"'s roof is building up and everyone is excited seeing it to be complete.
No exceptions for us to bring our little boy there to make his wish.
when we arrive, there still lots of car park and we go around the place.
We went there early evening in order to avoid the congested traffic up the hill.
upon arrive, he saw the statue of Kuan Yin and ask

Vernon : What is this?

Mommy : This is Kuan Yin.

After a while, I can't walk any longer so I sat down and there's a mother holding her baby on her arms. I told Vernon to see...............baby
You know what is Vernon's Reaction :
Vernon immediate walk to the front of the baby & mother and said :
Vernon : I am Big koko. The family sat next to us & the mother laugh at him.
However, Vernon can 't wait to go up to see the "Kuan Yin". He kept asking :
Vernon : Are we going to see the statue??
Mommy : okay, we are going up there, wait papa took some photos first.

When we go up to see the "kuan Yin" where the statue located. There's a counter where they still gather people donations for building/complete the roof for the "kuan Yin"
we decided to buy the "wishing Coin" for Vernon to put into each of the wishing bowl around the Kuan YIn. Vernon was not tall enough to reach the bowl, so Papa have to hold on him while I hold on the wishing coin for him to drop into each of the wishing bowl around the "kuan Yin"
after that Papa decided to donate RM5o to buy a piece of Roof tile as a donation for the Good luck for the family.
On our way down the hill, the traffic was very worse. It is bumper to bumper up the hill, but yet the cars still come toward the hill and some people even park their car besides the road.

Chinese New Year (3rd Day)

28-Jan-2009 Wednesday - The 3rd day of Chinese Lunar Year every year, we will have a Family gathering lunch (James family side) at Star View Restaurant.

We Normally have 6 to 7 tables all together as each of the family will have 1 tables.

This year we are the early bird after the restaurant move to the new place at New World Park.

The lunch suppose to start around 12:30pm but at 12pm we still don't see any other family members yet. Therefore we walked around the New World Park and we saw a nice "Fook" decorations in the center of the new world park. Here we had a pictures with Nai Nai & Kuku.

and the big "coin" was drop off from the decoration, we pick it for Vernon to hold on it and took a picture of it.

Soon, it already 12:45pm and the rest of the family still yet arrive. We knew Vernon already hungry and he keep asking for his Rice............

Luckily Kuku just bought a octopus from the outside shop for him which still can kept him for a while. While we ordered a small plate of "hor Fun" for him first.

Then, one by one family arrived.............and elder uncle decided to start the lunch though there's still 1 one family yet arrive. they knew everyone is very very hungry and it already too late.

Chinese New Year 2009

25-Jan-2009 Sunday - Every Chinese New year Eve we will normally have have family gathering steamboat at Chor Chor house. There's no exceptions for this year as well.

26-Jan-2009 Monday - 1st day of the lunar Chinese New Year we sure went to Ah mah/Kong Kong house as there'll be a lion dance performance in the house early in the morning. and we knew Vernon love to see. On the day, as early as 7:30am we have to get ready our self and dress up Vernon prepared to go to Ah mah house.

We are the 1st family arrived, ah mah already have the dessert "Lian Chi Kang" ready for early bird. Eating dessert in the early morning of the 1st lunar day is family tradition meaning "Sweet" will bring to the family.

Ah Mah & Kong Kong start gave "Ang Pow" to Vernon. I asked my parents hold on the "Ang Pow' till Vernon wish them. and this is what Vernon boy said to them as he saw his "ang pow"

Vernon : Ah Mah ! Kong Kong! Gong Xi Fa Chai, Happy New year !!

Upon getting his ang pow, he asked me to keep for him.

Very Soon-8:30am the lion dance troupe came and perform the lion dance.

KoKos & CheChes all arrived.

My Sister is teasing Vernon again............They knew he is able to say the CNY wishing words.

In order to get his Ang Pow.......He knew he has to say the words "Gong Xi Fa Chai & Happy New year"

After the lion dance troupe left, we had our "Mee sua", Chinese long long noodle rs where Chinese believe eating this noodle will bring long life.
then we had family photos same as every year for remembrance.
About 11am, we go to Nai Nai house and then there about 4 relatives came to visit Nai Nai house and we only back to Ah mah house for lunch again.
After lunch, Vernon really look tired and we bring him to Nai Nai house for a nap b4 we go out to visit relatives again.

My Birthday (3 years Old) - 12-Jan

**I prepare home cook spaghetti, nuggets for the kids & some Nyonya kuih
** Ah mah cook her delicious giant prawns and jelly.

12-Jan-2009 Saturday - Time fly very fast, Vernon boy is now 3 years old............
This year I & James decided to celebrate Vernon's 3rd birthday at Ah mah house same as last year as Nai Nai house is too small to fit everyone in. Hopefully we can complete renovate our new house by 2009, and his 4th year old birthday we can celebrate in our new home.
This year we decided to invite relatives only with home cooking dishes and some take home foods cater from Chinese swimming club.
Lately Vernon boy love to watch POCOYO & friends, he never miss it every evening when it come.
Therefore, a week before Vernon's birthday when we went to order his birthday cake at Jenny's cake house at Pulau Tikus.
It reminded me to make a special "POCOYO's cake" for our little boy, and we special request the baker to design a big "#3" holding by POCOYO which means our little boy is 3 years old.
On the day, when we open up the box................. Vernon boy so happy seeing his birhtday cake is "POCOYO" same for the rest of the kids. The color was so attractives and it decorate wih smartties.
The happiest moment is when everyone sang him the birthday song and he blew the caddles himself.

15-Jan-2008 Thursday night : As usual I & James had dinner at ah mah house after work, then only went to fetch Vernon boy home. When we reached Nai Nai house, we saw thru the window seeing Vernon was sitting alone on the living room sofa and smiling while watching "DIBO" his favorite Cartoons. We wait for while only open the gate & get in.
The moment we wait for Kakak Wati to tidy up Vernon's stuff, preparing to headed home. Usually we were reading newspaper, chit chat or watching cartoon together with Vernon.

Tonight, James was telling me some of the recent issues about our apartment's management things. He was not happy about how the management handle the residence money. Therefore, James's voice was a bit high in tone than usual tone, then Vernon boy thought that his Papa was angry at his mommy. He quickly go down from the Sofa and go to his papa and close his mouth with his hand, then he told his papa............................

Vernon : You stop!! no angry at mommy.............................okay
I laugh & laugh at James. ............ then told James-see your boy was so protecting his mommy.

What a Lovely Mommy's BOY.!!

Block Nose

7-Jan-2008 Wednesday - Vernon had running nose last weekend but after taken spare medicine for a day, his running nose stop. At first, I thought he already fully recovered but till Tuesday night I still can hear his voice sound like block nose. So the next day morning I request Nai Nai to bring Vernon to Dr. Sim for a thorough checkup on his nose.

Nai Nai bring Vernon to Dr Sim's clinic at about 9:30am, at the time there's another patient also waiting outside Dr Sim's clinic. As usual, Vernon love to play at the slide and the Toy Car in SRIGIM hospital.
and as told by Nai Nai, he scold the younger boy :

Vernon : You go there, this is mine. you cannot play.....................................
Nai Nai : You must share share one.

From the observations, Nai nai seeing that Vernon only give way to those older boy and always bully the younger one.
Upon calling by Dr. Sim's Nurse to the clinic, he want to walk in himself and the 1st thing he saw Dr. Sim. He call : Dr. Sim.....Dr. Sim.........as it has been some time he never seen Dr. Sim. after his last Jab. then Dr. Sim gave him a big Hug before Dr. Sim check on him and told that Vernon is fine...................just need to have the block nose drop (IIadin) for a few days, it will go away.
when finished checkup, the 1st thing Vernon ask Dr. Sim :

Vernon : Where is my bandage?
and he keep checking on his hand and leg.
All of them laugh !! ............include Dr. Sim & his nurses. Then Dr. Sim gave him some sticker as rewards. only he stop asking for bandage.

X'mas Vacation @ Singapore Day 2

27-Dec-2008 Saturday - This is the 2nd day of our S'pore trip where we plan to go to Sentosa Island since we need to spend the whole day there.

This is our hotel room, where Vernon is looking at the notepad.

We have bought our cable car ticket and is on our walking path to the cable care station.

Yeah! We are riding on the cable car on our way to the sentosa island.

This is the 1st ride we taken upon arrived at the sentosa island.

The tower is going upwards and downwards. The funny thing is Vernon want to wee-wee on the way down and he can't wait till the tower go down. luckily I did bring his wee-wee cup along. and we let him wee-wee in the cup first.

We were in the museum, Vernon was so happy make his call by using the old types telephone.

Then we look around, this is the only thing that Vernon allow to play. and I was not allow, due to there's a rule which prohibit pregnant lady & expecting mom + kids below certain height.

So I only can took photos for them. and James have to bring him to play.

On our way to find restaurant for lunch, Vernon saw a lots of kids playing with the water fountain. So he also want to play. And I have to hold him...........but with very careful.

as I am not suppose to carry him.

Hmmh.....finally we saw a restaurant which serve variety of international food.

see...........the yummy food James ordered. For Vernon, I have to share the S'pore Chicken rice.

he is a bit fussy when we wake him up for lunch. But after a while he is ok since we ordered him a cup of cold drink.

We waited till evening finish the laser light show. when we were there, already have lots of ppl queuing up. It was so warm and humid especially when the place crowded with ppl.

After a tire day at sentosa, we headed back to hotel. Take a hot bath and only go to get our dinner again. We found a place for chicken rice again.............as Vernon keep saying he want to eat rice.
We went for a double Decker bus for a free ride at the orchid road (looking at the X'mas night lights). It was so fascinating......................and can say the whole road was full with colorful lights.

and they have a team every year.

Oh..........................................what a tire day and it's time for us to ride on the MRT back to our hotel.

X'mas Vacation @ Singapore Day 1

26-Dec-2008 Friday - We've 2 weeks long X'mas Holidays, so I & papa decided to bring Vernon to S'pore for vacations. We plan to fly with AirAsia this time as it always having promotion with low fare. We book our AirAsia ticket about a month ahead & never thought that MAS have another promotion where the price was so attractive and if we fly with Mas. We do not need to transit KL which is much more convenient especially travel with small kid.
We have no choice since AirAsia ticket is not cancellable
We woke up very early in the morning waiting for NaiNai to fetch us to Airport in order not to miss the flight.
Vernon very happy upon walking into the departure Gate, he kept asking me & James where is the Aeroplane?
The airport was so crowded with people going for their X'mas holidays.
We have to walk to the airplane unlike the normal MAS/SIN Airline. Therefore, Papa have to go up to the plane with Vernon in order to reserve a better seat for all of us. As a pregnant mommy, i can't walk fast enough and also try to avoid those people whom love to push in order to get a better place.
Once Vernon sat on his seat, the 1st thing is asked me :

Vernon : Mommy help me to buckle, for safety else Vernon will "pon-pon"
Mommy : okay, mommy help you to buckle up the safety belt.

Then Vernon pull the emergency guide from the front seat pocket and kept asking James.
So Papa have to explain every single details to him. He love & very curious for every single things he saw.
The fun moments is Vernon start count down from "10..9..8..7..6..5..4..3..2..1" when we told him the airplane is going to take off.

When we arrived at the S'pore airport is like almost 2pm in the afternoon. We knew the little boy must be very hungry as we only took a light Mc'D breakfast during KL transit.

as it already past about 2 hours from his usual lunch time. He kept asking :

Vernon : I want Rice.....I want Rice...............hungry mommy

mommy : Wait.......mommy knew you are very hungry.

We wait for papa to ask the info center on the LRT & S'pore Map, as he need to familiar how we proceed from airport to our hotel by LRT.

finally we seated in Sakae Sushi restaurant in S'pore Airport terminal 2.

Vernon saw the varieties of sushi running on the conveyor belt next to him. He quickly grab 1 plate of sushi with house shape while waiting for our order to be serve. he enjoyed and finished 2 of them pretty fast and then he ask me to take one of those and leave another 1 for papa.

When we almost finish our lunch, Vernon boy saw the waiter is blowing balloon for decorations.

he then ask the waiter to gave him 1 balloon. then I told him where is your Magic words to koko that who gave you the balloon.

Vernon : Thank You koko.

X'mas Dinner with Family (backdated 24-Dec post)

24-Dec-2008 Wednesday - This Year X'mas we change our celebration venue from hotels to restaurant where we usually had our X'mas family dinner, this is to save some$$ due to economy slowdown. hhhaaa..........aa
We really need to thanks Kuku for making all the arrangements prior to the big day.
On 24-Dec evening, we get ready and all of us meet at Chor Chor house b4 heading to "Batu Ferringi"
The Restaurant that we were going is just right opposite of "Golden Sands Hotel." which I can't recall the name of the restaurant.
Anyway, we got a very good place/table and the place where there's fountain right besides us and the restaurant was crowded with foreigners.
After we have ordered our dinner, we enjoying talking and most of the topics are about Vernon boy and JJ2. As Lately Vernon use to told E po & Nai Nai that he is big brother though we knew he still didn't know that he actually going to be big brother soon.
Kuku & 3 E po bought the X'mas pop & the cute deer hairband. We tried to put the Deer hairband on Vernon's Head but he knew we are making fun of him and he pull it off very fast.
and lastly we got it on him and papa quickly took his photo while his is playing with the pop-pops.
After that we asked Vernon to distribute the present to each & every of family members.
When Nai Nai received her brooch, she was so happy and she love it so much.
We finished our dinner about 10pm and everyone was exhausted and going home.
We reach home soon, and told Vernon took his milk milk and go to bed wait for Santa to delivered his present. He listen to us and went to bed.

The next morning, he woke up early and go to check any present under the X'mas tree.
He saw there're present for him : one from daddy, one from mommy & another from Santa.
He happily open up present from papa, when he found this is a McDonald's breakfast set.
He was so happy and immediate asked us what breakfast we want to order from him.

Garfield & Friends @ Island Plaza (backdated post-Dec 21)

21-Dec-2008 Sunday - We saw the flyer send to Ah Mah house about Let's meet "Garfield & friends" @ Island Plaza. We knew that Vernon boy sure love it as he had a Garfield toys with him.

We reached Island Plaza 1/2 hours earlier though the show only start at 2pm, in order not to miss the photo session with Garfield & friends. Just in time we reach the lobby of Island plaza, the speaker is introducing the characters that coming out soon. and they request all the kids & parents to Q-up to the stage. The lucky things is there's not much people knowing about this promotion.

We also met Joshua ko-ko, Jolene che che & mommy there, they just finish their shopping and drop by to have a photos together with Garfield & friends as well.

Jojo Mommy (my sister) told me that if buy RM120 from any shops at Island plaza on that day, will get a Garfield pillow.

After the show mommy went to Metro to see anything can buy for Nai Nai as upcoming X'mas present since there's a good free gift promotion. there mommy found a nice Nyonya brooch that very suitable for Nai Nai "baju kebaya." and mommy also buy a pair of Tiffany earring for myself.

and bought 2 pairs of Hush puppies shocks for papa X'mas present.

At Last, Papa said today is for mommy last minutes X'mas shopping day........................haa....aa
